Continental King, a black stallion foaled in 1958, is still very much a part of our breeding and training program. Charlie Hutton first stood Continental King in 1971 and he still provides both genetics and inspiration to Hilldale Farm.
Continental King was sired by King P-234 (pictured to the right) out of Sue Hunt by San Siemon. He earned a Superior in Reining and was the first horse inducted into the NRHA Hall of Fame. At age 21, Charlie rode him to complete his NCHA Certificate of Ability. The great stallion died at age 28 and was buried on a hill beside the arena where Charlie and David rode at that time.
Continental King sired many great performance horses and producers. Of that record, eight AQHA High Point Reining Horses were trained and shown by Charlie Hutton, four of which, were descendants of Continental King:
Continental Pistol
Continental Nancy
SF Kings Firstlady
SF Kings Firstlady won 18 consecutive reinings at age 3, and is now a favorite broodmare for Hilldale Farm. She has her own page available from the Broodmares section.
Three other Continental King granddaughters are amongst the farm's best producers. Currently, more of his descendants are in training at Hilldale Farm.
